CMC Productions and JMC Academy are proud to announce 2-day Seminars with Pat Pattison to launch the highly anticipated:

Songwriting Without Boundaries

Lyric Writing Exercises for Finding Your Voice

in Melbourne and Sydney January 2012

Email info@cmcproductions.com.au or call 0417 049 616 to book

In this seminar, you will explore the four challenges from Pat Pattison's new book in depth;

1. Object Writing,

2. Metaphor,

3. Extending Metaphor, and

4. Doing it all in Rhythm and Rhyme.

You'll learn to integrate Object Writing into your Songwriting; create powerful and effective metaphor, using straight-forward exercises you can do on your own; extend and reverse metaphor, and finally, work with rhythm and rhyme, preparing your writing for its journey into song.

This seminar will open your mind and release your best ideas.

Selected participants will have an opportunity to receive constructive critiques of their songs and lyrics. The Saturday critique sessions will run in order of registration, so register early to help your chances!  The Sunday critique sessions will be randomly selected.

I would not be the writer I am today without [Pat’s] teaching and his unique and comprehensive understanding of language, rhyme, rhythm, and structure. To this day, when I struggle with a lyric and find myself falling short, I am usually ignoring some very sound advice contained in these pages. And I read it again."

-- 3-time Grammy winner Gillian Welch

"I took a class with a great teacher named Pat Pattison... I learned a lot in that class...and I still read that book, Writing Better Lyrics. I think it's great."

-- 7-time Grammy winner and 11-time Grammy nominated John Mayer

Rewriting Masterclass with Pat Pattison

Evenings available in Melbourne and Sydney

This seminar, presented in a Master Class format, will use participants' songs to demonstrate the rewriting process. Learn how to effectively use various tools, including verse development, productive repetition, phrasing, effective matching of lyric and melody, structure and prosody. This seminar focuses particularly on polishing those small bumps that distract the listener and let air escape from the song's tires.

Participants strictly limited to 10 places, with observer places available. Any songwriter interested in the rewriting Masterclass should contact Clare at info@cmcproductions.com.au
