Your Songs: A Producers Perspective with Stephen Webber

Stephen's seminar on Production for Songwriters was outstanding and truly wonderful - he's a master of communicating a pretty daunting message - for not only the basics of recordings - but also nice little techie treats for all the tech-geeks in the room - Which wasn't me by the way - but gave me enough of it as to inform me - but not make my eyes glaze over - a rare talent when talking production techniques.
Once again - your awesome seminars have given me a tanker-load of useful info, techniques and strategies to take my songs and music biz to the next level.  Thanks for all you do to help us songwriters get the relevant stuff we need to advance our music.

Great workshop with Stephen on the weekend. Thanks for making it happen. He is a wonderful presenter. Engaging, funny and skilled at imparting his vast knowledge. I really enjoyed his anecdotes as well.  Great stuff.

Really well done, I loved it and have twittered, facebooked and myspaced what I thought. We are just about to start recording the next CD and this is a great start to organizing my thought before taking on the project.

Stephen is very insightful and I really thank him for some affirmation of my previous thinking and also the inspiration of some new ideas.

Thank you for organizing the workshop last weekend. It was very informative and highlighted very important points to consider when creating music and lyrics. The production / engineering tips and potential pit falls were good to be made aware of so as to create the best possible listening experience.

I especially liked the emphasis on the quality of the product, the examples such as the Bonnie Raitt "I can't make you love me." Truly awesome.  Myself and my producer (Steve Manovski) thoroughly enjoyed this weekend's experience.

Lovely to meet you and Stephen.  His seminar evoked a lot of positive thought for me.  Listening is such a simple exercise and yet it gives one so much knowledge. Stephen really reminded me about the power of listening. I listen to a lot of music and I forget that there are ways to add to the experience to continue to grow.

Stephen truly is a gifted teacher.  Both the weekend seminar and the apra seminar captivated me the whole time - that takes skill - and I learnt heaps in the process.  He really has added to my artistry and I know my future work. Maz...xx:):) (Sydney)

I went to the APRA night on Thursday where Stephen spoke and just wanted to let you know that I got a lot out of the experience. I put some of his techniques to work straight away and got immediate results. Thanks to you and APRA!

Just a note to say thank you for holding the event with Stephen last night. It was great to meet him, and the messages he gave really spoke to me. Being a blues singer/songwriter, sometimes I second guess myself about my choruses being too repetitive. Therefore it was a good reminder that people respond physically and emotionally to repetition when used well. I am currently getting the first drafts of my EP mixes sent through, but am reserving my first listen to a time when I am undistracted. As Stephen says, you only have the one opportunity for a first listen, so that was another timely message for me.  Thanks again

Compliments on an informative and practical seminar. I found all of the subjects we covered to have relevance to my circumstances and found Stephen to be one of the best presenters I have had the pleasure of listening to.

The outstanding thing was that not only did he have the experience to back up the points he was teaching and give practical examples but he treated each of the people whom he was working with respectfully and whether it was presentation or critique, his caring attitude came through and ensured there was adequate discussion on the points that were important to us as a group.

One of the most important things I learnt on the weekend had nothing to do with songwriting - but rather how to comment or critique another person's song. I have always felt uncomfortable doing this and watched others unsuccessfully try to do it as well. Stephen's manner and approach I feel resulted in both the artist and the audience feeling comfortable that the songs could be improved but not threatened or embarrassed by the act of it being done.  Excellent!

I really loved Stephen.  I think he is the best one you have had out here in Brisbane that I have seen.  He had a sensitive approach and he really touched on aspects that I had not thought of before in his content.  He did not waffle on all day about himself or just give a concert of his own stuff, he was much more sensitive in his approach.  I would definitely tell all my songwriting friends to come to him if you can bring him back…And he gave me great insights for recording my next album as well as great tips on songwriting.  He is as good as (and even better in some ways) than Pat Pattison.  As you know I love Pat so that’s a huge compliment.
